Men from Karyes who Died at the Greek-Italian War

The district of people who came from Karyes features five outstanding stories of men, who were born in Karyes in Eastern Rumelia, lived in Giannitsa and were killed at the Greek-Italian War.
Georgios Bekiaris was born in 1906 in Karyes, Eastern Rumelia. He was killed at the battle of Butte 1480, on 14 November 1940. His three children were left orphaned.
Ioannis Pouloudis was born in 1911 in Karyes, Eastern Rumelia. He was killed at the battle of Butte Tria Avga. His newborn son was left orphaned.
Dimitrios Torolozis was born in 1918 in Karyes, Eastern Rumelia. He was killed at the battle of Butte 1736. His mother, as the Karyes tradition demands, laid his groom suit on the bed and mourned her son’s absent corpse.
Christos Tsirikoudis was born in 1919 in Karyes, Eastern Rumelia. He was killed on 22 December 1940 at the battle of the Butte 1776 (Morava-Poupati). His two baby children were left orphaned.
Antonios Chatzopoulos was born in 1916 in Karyes, Eastern Rumelia. He served with the 3rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He was killed in April 1941, during an air raid of the German forces.
